Brewing Art
Residency 26'
About the Collection...
I knew I wanted to paint a bold collection that had a lot of soul and colour, but also something that would pay tribute to my friend who always, no matter the occasion, has a bottle of wine in the fridge.
You know the friend… Whether it be to cure whatever crisis is going on, to celebrate an occasion - big or small- or just because it’s a Tuesday and you’ve not had a proper catch-up in months.
To me, the collect represents bringing people together and celebrating the faces sitting around the table at the time the wine is being served, whether you’re drinking it or not.
About my Time...
My time at the residency was filled with a lot of learnings. For example, how growing my technique, audience, and social media presence takes time (and that's okay).
It taught me to be brave, to trust myself and to enjoy the process of what I am making and most importantly it taught me not to compare myself to others. This really hit me when I first arrived at the studio and the first two girls that I met were professional artist's, making a living from their work - I instantly felt inexperienced and not worthy of being there. BUT, I once I got over that and saw it as a blessing, I realised I could learn a lot from them.
Indeed I learnt that if want the art career, I can have it, but it comes with hustle, sacrifice and patience.
I feel truly excited for what's next and can't wait to keep creating bold, exciting pieces.
